The popular Show Boat of the Copenhagen Opera Festival sets sail once again with high spirits and vocal performances - this time with a pure treasure trove of charming rarities and well-known hits from the seven seas of theater, film, and popular music. As an assistant on the Show Boat, you are the right-hand man of the director and help with the execution by preparing the boat, handing out song sheets to the audience, setting up and packing up again, fetching food for the team, and boarding the audience with the Strömma staff. During your shift, you will experience the rocking rhythm and infectious atmosphere when the Show Boat 2024 is taken over by two grand singing pirates and their splendidly playing pianist. Soprano Anna Vaupel and tenor Jonathan von Schwanenflügel walk the plank with both grand emotions and merry tones, from melodic Italian opera to Gilbert &amp; Sullivan, Bellini, Kurt Weill, and Cole Porter, while Tony Tuan-Anh Nguyen provides high energy behind the keys. The Opera bus Ride!Sing!Repeat! is a mobile opera performance that fills the city with mini-operas lasting 10-15 minutes each. We will make 4 stops in 3 hours. As we drive the bus from location to location, we play "operabangers" loudly from the bus speakers. The choir's role is to sing along to the ones they know while we drive around the city. We have put together a playlist of various well-known classics such as Queen of the Night, Pa Pa Pa, O Silver Moon, La donna e mobile, Con Te Partirò, Libiamo ne'lieti calici, O Mio Babbino Caro, O Isis und Osiris, and more. You also have the opportunity to suggest songs for them to sing along to. NOTE! Light refreshments will be provided during the performance. There will be no opportunity for a break. As tradition dictates, we present opera at the highest level at street level, when the Festival stage in the middle of Nørrebro sets up tents for this year's opera experiences. During this shift, you will have the opportunity to experience conductor Magnus Larsson as the bright and early host for Opera Community Singing. The task during this shift is to conduct a public survey. By being proactive, you must get as many audience members as possible to answer five short questions on your iPad in the digital survey. The Opera Bus Ride!Sing!Repeat! is a mobile opera performance that fills the city with mini-operas of 10-15 minutes in duration. We make 4 stops in 3 hours. While driving the bus from location to location, we play "operabangers" loudly from the bus's speakers. As an assistant, your role is to distribute flyers to the audience and passersby, help decorate the bus, manage the crowd, and contribute to the good and festive atmosphere on the bus! NOTE! Traditionally, we present opera at the highest level at street level when the Festival Stage in the middle of Nørrebro sets up the tent for this year's opera experience.On this occasion, you will have the chance to experience why Portuguese folk music fado shines on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List, when festival regular and mezzo-soprano Cláudia Ribas and ensemble perform a heartfelt repertoire in the summer evening. As front-of-house staff, you are one of the crucial components ensuring a smooth operation.The tasks before the show will include checking chairs, cleaning the area, getting programs, putting items in the refrigerators at the bars, and preparing the payment system. Additional tasks include setting up the artist tent and the volunteer tent. During the show, you may distribute programs, show the audience to their seats, count clicks, work in the bar, and organize the inventory. The tasks after the show are to straighten up chairs, take out trash, report clicks, refill the bars, shut down the payment system, and clean up. NOTE! As tradition dictates, we present opera of the highest level all over town at this year's Copenhagen Opera Festival. Join us as we create a Festival stage in the middle of Nørrebro and set up the tent for this year's biggest opera highlights. Or when we present the spectacular recurring events such as Ride!Sing!Repeat! and Show Boat, which bring opera all around the city. As a volunteer at the Copenhagen Opera Festival, you get to experience some fantastic and engaging opera performances, while also contributing to valuable and crucial tasks to make this year's festival happen. At Copenhagen Opera Festival, there is an amazingly dedicated atmosphere and strong sense of community. We have many volunteers who are regulars (some for 13 years), which we see as a reflection of the hard work, we put into creating the best conditions for our volunteers. We have dedicated project managers who meet volunteers with openness and good spirits, and we pride ourselves on the flexibility with which we treat our volunteers. We look forward to seeing you!
