Welcome Ambassador Corps - Ørestad

Welcome Ambassador Corps - Ørestad

Join the Welcome Ambassador Corps in Ørestad and make a difference for new international Copenhageners!

The City of Copenhagen is ready to launch a new Welcome Ambassador Corps in Ørestad – a volunteer initiative that helps to ensure that new international Copenhageners feel supported and connected right from the beginning. A friendly face and a warm welcome can go a long way in turning a new city into a new home.

Ørestad is becoming home to an increasing international community. Each month, new international Copenhageners arrive—some from across the globe, others from nearby towns—eager to start a new chapter in this vibrant and modern part of Copenhagen. Arriving in a new place, however, can be overwhelming, and even small things like understanding local practices or finding local communities can feel like a hurdle.

What is a Welcome Ambassador?

As a Welcome Ambassador, you’ll be part of a small team that hosts a monthly Welcome Café in Ørestad. Your role will be to greet newcomers with openness and help them feel welcome during the event. You'll share tips and tricks about the neighbourhood, highlight local resources and community opportunities and facilitate conversations that help people connect with each other.

The role is focused around the café event itself but may also include other relevant events and activities. Being a volunteer position, the role is flexible and designed to fit around your existing schedule without any requirements of long-term commitment.  We do, however, hope that you’ll be part of the project for a minimum of 6 months for the best possible outcome. Please note that you are not expected to provide personal contact or ongoing support outside of the events.

The Welcome Ambassador Corps is a pilot project running for 4 years anchored in the Culture and Leisure Administration in The City of Copenhagen. There will be a coordinator assigned, who will follow the project closely, provide help and feedback and make sure to introduce you to the role.
